What Kind Of Drop-ship Products Are Available Online?

By Karen McFarland

There are many reasons why on line business owners consider drop-shipping as a solution, but one reason is because retailers have more to choose from. For example, let us take a look at Harry, who wants to open a custom t-shirt store. And he doesn't want to bother with all the hassle involved in hiring employees for the manufacturing of the shirts, but would rather focus on creating a simple, yet attractive website to draw customers in.

Her biggest job would be to find and line up manufacturers that would be able to supply the various items for her catalog. This takes some research and the Internet is very useful for that. After contacting the manufacturers and setting up an account, you could then focus on optimizing your website for the search engines and making it look good for potential clients.

Or maybe you are starting your own vitamin supplement business to help bodybuilders achieve their exercise goals. With research, he can find someone who can help him by blending supplements or offering them ready-made. You could still design your brand name label, thus personalizing your product. The drop-shipper will then take his order and label and ship to his customer for him.

Have you dreamed of offering your own specialty electronics business? You are just one of the many on line retailers who are into this, and they have succeeded with manufacturers filling orders and shipping out items. Now let us introduce you to Bill, who, just like you, is into electronics, specifically hard to find equipment for PCs and laptops. He can easily create accounts with the right suppliers for his product of choice. Then all he has to do is create a catalog and/or website to make it all available to his potential customers.

As you can see, drop-shipping can be the answer to those many questions a retail sales business has. Are hard to find toys from your childhood your area of interest? Look up handcrafted toys manufacturers. Are you an authority in pink and anything related to that particular color? Once again, there is no shortage of manufacturers that specialize in that exact area.

Many people confuse drop-shipping with affiliate marketing, but while they are different, they can complement each other like ebony and ivory. For example, if your website is all about California backcountry trails, then you can have a custom made trail mix just with your label drop-shipped to your customers - but also have hiking and backpacking equipment from Amazon.com all on the same site.

The possibilities are limitless. You come up with the idea. You find the drop-shippers and suppliers for it. For the promotion of your site, create a website or catalog. You come up with ways to get your customer to see your site and voila! You're in business.

But can anybody tell what's missing from the process we just illustrated? The manufacturing and shipping of the product, which is handled by your drop-shippers. This is as close as it gets to smooth sailing when it comes to running a business. It will take some homework on your part to line up solid, reputable sources. But once that part is done, you're in business.
