Diamond Grinding Tools: WHAT DISC FOR HARD CONCRETE?

Concrete grinding machines are used to clean concrete and to remove coatings, epoxy, oil, chemicals, or paints from raw concrete. These machines are used for smoothing out bumps and other irregularities in both horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces. Concrete grinding machines work by using a grinding disc or wheel that is usually embedded with diamond chips. These abrasive media help to cut the surface that is being designed to remove paint, coatings and surface contaminants. Available in a wide range of configurations, To match specific job requirements, concrete grinding machines are available in a wide range of configurations. They are hand-held, dustless, walk behind, single head and multiple head.

Diamond wheels are actually classified according to shape, concentration, bond, and grit size. These wheels are used in various grinding and abrasive machining operations. Consequently, diamond grinding wheels are used in grinding machines. In any machining or grinding process, it is always important to use the appropriate grinding wheel.

The Rule of Thumb: Use diamond tooling with a SOFT BOND and/or less segments for hard concrete and increase the weight on the diamond tooling. Using coarser grit diamond may increase the dust size and keep the tooling working. Equally important; do not use tooling for hard concrete on soft concrete; they will almost certainly wear out incredibly fast. If you turn down the vacuum so there is plenty of dust under the machine, this will help the diamonds to expose. Careful addition of sand may also help. Don't overdo sand, it could cause premature wear!

Some diamonds that have come from these synthetic processes are reported to be even harder than their "natural" counterparts. Nicknamed as "hyper-diamonds," scientists have altered the chemical processes in their formation. This allows for even harder, stronger gems than previously thought possible. While these synthetic diamonds are useful, there are inherent questions on whether they are as valuable as, or less valuable than naturally occurring diamonds mined from earth. However, their use in various industrial applications remains unquestioned. Streets evened out by diamond grinding wheel processes help keep roads safer. Drilling into deep underground has become easier, as harder soil and rocks are easily pierced by diamonds embedded in the drill bit.

To have the right grinder and abrasive for the job, be sure to consider the psi of the concrete surface, since concrete harden as it ages. The type of contaminant or coating that is being removed from the concrete. The scale of the job to determine the size of a tool needed. The hardness of the surface to ascertain the type of cup wheel, abrasive disc or cutters one should use. The main reason for this expansive increase in Diamond Grinding Tools is a reduction in physical fatigue and rest breaks. Even a masculine and experienced person has to take rest breaks, but the frequency of the break is much less when using grinding tools resulting in a flawless job.
